The community paramedicine technician program is designed to educate experienced BLS providers with the required skills needed to function within the community paramedicine program. Program topics will include high-risk patient populations, community resources, chronic disease management, the pathophysiology of disease, and lab techniques and tests. The program is built on 3 pillars:
Transitioning from EMT to Community EMT
Transitioning from Emergent to Preventive Care
The purpose of this outline is to provide a list of the community EMT topics that must be covered in a community EMT education program. A community paramedicine education program must be flexible in design to assist in closing gaps within the healthcare system. Through standards community paramedicine curriculums EMS providers can be educated at the appropriate level to serve their local communities.
Topic areas include but are not limited to:
Introduction to Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Community Paramedicine
Home safety assessment
Social determinates of health
Plan of care
